Sciatica Physiotherapy
Sciatica Physiotherapy for Easier, More Confident Movement
Sciatic pain can make sitting at work, getting out of the car, putting on shoes, or walking through a store difficult. Pain may travel from your lower back or buttock into your leg, sometimes with tingling, numbness, or weakness.

Previous physical therapy may have left you discouraged if appointments felt rushed, exercises seemed generic, or treatment ended with lingering symptoms and an unexpected bill.

Enhance provides one-on-one sciatica physiotherapy in Lindon. You receive a full 60-minute session with a fellowship-trained physical therapist who evaluates your movement, answers questions, and creates a plan around your needs.

Irritating Your Sciatic Nerve
Find What’s Irritating Your Sciatic Nerve
Sciatic nerve pain often develops when a nerve root in the lower back becomes irritated or compressed. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and arthritic changes can reduce space around a nerve. Symptoms may appear during bending or lifting even when irritation has developed gradually.

Piriformis syndrome can cause similar symptoms when a muscle near the buttock irritates the sciatic nerve. Because different problems can produce leg pain, an examination is needed before choosing treatment.

Your therapist considers your symptom pattern, medical history, and movement responses. These findings help guide personalized sciatica treatment or identify when medical evaluation should come first.
Physical Therapy for Sciatica Pain That Looks Beyond Your Leg
Our physical therapy for sciatica pain begins with a movement assessment of your lower back, hips, and related areas. You’ll discuss where symptoms travel, when they started, and what makes them better or worse.

The examination may review:

✔ Lower-back and hip mobility
✔ Leg and core strength
✔ Sensation and muscle function
✔ Nerve sensitivity
✔ Walking and balance
✔ Bending and lifting
✔ Responses to repeated movements

Your goals also matter. Sitting through a meeting, carrying groceries, or returning to exercise may require different progressions. Treatment is chosen around these findings rather than giving everyone the same stretches.

What Your Sciatica Rehabilitation May Include

Calm Irritable
Symptoms
Aggressive stretching may aggravate a sensitive nerve. Your therapist identifies positions and movements that feel manageable and explains how to adjust activity. The aim is to keep you moving within your current tolerance.

Restore Comfortable Mobility
Gradual movement and appropriate hands-on care may help address stiffness. A 2025 systematic review of mobilization-with-movement techniques reported possible benefits from one technique, but the evidence was limited and often low quality. Treatment should be guided by your response.

Rebuild Strength and
Control
Therapeutic exercise for sciatica may address your hips, legs, and trunk. A 2024 trial involving 58 adults found improvements in both exercise groups over two weeks. Adding neurodynamic movement improved patient-specific function more, but the small, short study does not establish a universal programme.

Return to Functional
Movement
Effective sciatica rehabilitation supports functional movement, including walking, lifting, driving, and work tasks. Exercises progress according to your ability and symptoms. Improvement is measured through everyday activities as well as pain levels.

Sciatic Pain Physiotherapy
Sciatic PainPhysiotherapy Treatment That Adapts to You
Your sciatic pain physiotherapy treatment takes place during a private, 60-minute session. There’s time to observe your movement, explain treatment choices, practise exercises, and adjust the plan when something isn’t helping.

You’ll understand:

✔ What the assessment suggests
✔ Why a treatment was chosen
✔ Which movements may help
✔ What may aggravate symptoms
✔ What to do between appointments
✔ How progress will be measured

Your home plan should be realistic and connected to your goals. You can discuss difficulties rather than continuing exercises that consistently worsen symptoms. Related body regions can be addressed when clinically appropriate. Your questions help shape each appointment.

What Progress Can Look Like
Recovery depends on the cause, symptom duration, nerve involvement, overall health, and response to treatment. No provider can promise that one exercise or hands-on technique will cure every case.

Early progress might mean sitting longer, walking more comfortably, or needing fewer breaks during daily tasks. Later goals may include lifting, exercise, or returning to physically demanding work.

Your therapist reviews these changes and adjusts the plan. If symptoms worsen, weakness develops, or progress raises concerns, further medical assessment may be recommended. Personalized care includes recognizing when another approach is needed.
Expect After Dry Needling
Know the Cost Before Treatment Begins
Enhance PT uses fixed pricing paid upfront. The care included in your selected plan is explained before treatment begins, so you can discuss expected visits and costs without waiting for an insurance decision.

Your comprehensive plan may include appropriate care for related body regions. Ask what is included and whether any additional charges could apply before committing.

Requires Urgent Medical Attention
When Sciatica Requires Urgent Medical Attention
Seek emergency medical care for new bladder or bowel control problems, difficulty passing urine, numbness around the groin or saddle area, rapidly worsening leg weakness, or significant weakness in both legs.

Severe symptoms after major trauma also need immediate evaluation. Back pain with fever or serious illness requires prompt medical assessment, especially if you feel very unwell.

These symptoms may indicate a serious condition. Do not wait for your next therapy appointment. Your therapist also screens for concerns that require referral.
